Before talking about the stage rehearsal, I'd like to write about this "Hotel Jardin le Brea". On a day off, I returned to this charming hotel situated in the left-bank part of Paris and it brought me back a lot of sweet sweet memories. This is where my life in France started. This is where my teacher and mentor, Miss Wong, and I stayed when we first came to Paris to audition for the Paris Opera Ballet School. I was then 14, never stepped out of Asia and couldn't speak a word in French. It was in this hotel that I was so so nervous the night before the day of the audition. It was in this hotel that I had so many nice talks with Miss Wong. It was in this hotel that I spent my first week in Paris, in France and in Europe. This hotel marked my first step of this whole adventure and the turning point in my dancing career: being the first Chinese to enter the Paris Opera Ballet School. I remember every bit of that one week.......
After about a month of rehearsal and preparation, the four dancers/choreographers of the Paris Opera Ballet will finally present their new ballets on stage this week. I am only dancing in Bruno Boucher's piece and I am excited to discover the three other pieces. I hope the four new ballets will make a good performance. I remember every bit of that one week....... I took this photo of another piece by Sebastien Bertaud when I watched a short bit of the stage rehearsal. I love seeing the Foyer de la Danse through the stage like this. It is one charming particularity of the stage of the Palais Garnier. This is one of the sets for Bruno's piece. We were setting up the stage when I took this photo. It has been extremely difficult for the four young choreographers to create a piece in a short period of time. I admire how they managed to complete their works in such limited time. Though this "mirror", we can see the beautiful audience of the Opera, however, the day of the performance, the audience won't have a chance to see this effect, as the audience will not be lighted up and thus no reflexion will be possible. Last but not least, who will ever get tired of this beautiful view?
