| Yesterday was the Fete de l'Ecole (School Festival). It's a show case that's organised only by last year's (1st division). Being one of first division's students, I participated in the preparation. Every student can perform in the showcase to show off their talents, not only in the form of dancing! Magic show, instrument playing, dancing, theatre............ The students are totally free to perform what they desire to. The preparation of this showcase is supposed to be secret. No adults are supposed to know anything about it before the performance! |
"Chun Wing, I hope that you will play piano in the school festival! Won't you?".
"Well, I don't think so!", I replied.
"Why not!?", he said.
"I don't dare to......", I said timidly.
"But WHY!? (he stepped the floor) You're good in piano and you SHOULD do it! Come on!"
Then, I decided to play something in the show. And I've chosen the music in the Youtube video above. Since the teachers, Miss Platel (The director of POBS), Miss Lefevre (Dance director of POB), all the teachers and parents will be watching this show, and since most of them didn't know that I play piano, I really wanted to impress them. I chose this very difficult piece just two weeks before the show. I worked a lot on it. At the beginning, somehow I told myself "Oh, you're not going to do that!" But finally I did it! I asked some girls do dance on this music, if not I wouldn't have had the courage to do that alone! It finally turned out to be something not bad.
I was extremely busy last week because of all the rehearsals and practicing after school. And I was very nervous about the show. On top of that, I had to choreographe a dance piece for some younger students. I realised that I've learnt a lot from this school festival. Working with classmates is much more difficult than working with adults. Every student have their opinions, and it finishes always by arguments. But when working with an adult, even you don't like his/her idea you won't say anything, so it's much more efficient. What we've done in just only two weeks is just impressive, letting me know that, really, nothing is impossible!
At the end of the perofmrance, Miss Lefevre (Director of POB) gave a speech to the whole school and said that, "There's love that's running around this school, even though there are a lot of difficulties. And that is Art! Art is love that overcomes difficulties!"
This may be my last School Festival...... I'm gonna miss it so badly :)
