I ordered the book right the way, but didn't start to read until a month ago. And once I started reading it, the addictive plot caught me instantly and I couldn't stop reading! I finished the book in 2-3 weeks, it is simply fascinating.
The movie based on this novel with a complete Asian casting will soon be out in France, I can't wait to watch it. This novel is about an American Born Chinese girl named Rachel from an ordinary family who was invited to meet her boyfriend's (Nicolas) family in Singapore during their summer vacation. Upon arriving at the airport where the couple was directed to the First Class Counter, Rachel understood that Nicolas's family is "Crazy Rich", something that Nicolas never told her. Rachel will then spend some horrible time with Nicolas' family and his surroundings, because of the social class gap between them.....
This book makes me think a lot about the aspects of life that money cannot offer. No matter how much money the Crazy Rich characters in this book spend in luxury products, private jets...... etc. they are not not necessarily happier.
Meanwhile, in this sunny Sunday afternoon, I am lucky enough to be able to go out and enjoy the city of Paris, with all its cultural activities, beautiful sceneries by the Seine River, life can be simply beautiful as it is, from the moment when we start to appreciate the different colours of it.
