After the decision, we have so many culinary plans: Cantonese fried rice, Chinese soups, healthy vegan desserts, sushi.......... Just in 5 days!!!! I really can't wait!!!! A big hug to my lovely sister for accepting to stay in France for 2 more months before returning to Hong Kong! And a million thanks to the Ellisons who gave us the chance to stay together in Paris!
We still have about one month of preparation before the audition for the Paris Opera Ballet. This will be a critical moment in my career. To let myself relax more during this period, I decided to stay away from the dormitory, where the atmosphere is getting heavier and heavier. However, I cannot stay in Paris alone, and my host family lives a little bit too far from my school. My last host family, the Ellison family, so kindly offered their empty flat in Paris to me and my sister so that we can stay together in Paris in June before my audition. Moreover, I can have the entire control on my diet. Since then, all my worries seem to be solved! I really can't wait to see my sister at the train station this Friday!

In the past two years, I just did a little bit of dancing. I didn't dare to do anything more than that, even though I really wanted to play piano in the festival. About two weeks ago, I was playing piano alone in a dance studio at school, and my music teacher Mr. Prouty came in and told me,
"Chun Wing, I hope that you will play piano in the school festival! Won't you?". "Well, I don't think so!", I replied. "Why not!?", he said. "I don't dare to......", I said timidly. "But WHY!? (he stepped the floor) You're good in piano and you SHOULD do it! Come on!" Then, I decided to play something in the show. And I've chosen the music in the Youtube video above. Since the teachers, Miss Platel (The director of POBS), Miss Lefevre (Dance director of POB), all the teachers and parents will be watching this show, and since most of them didn't know that I play piano, I really wanted to impress them. I chose this very difficult piece just two weeks before the show. I worked a lot on it. At the beginning, somehow I told myself "Oh, you're not going to do that!" But finally I did it! I asked some girls do dance on this music, if not I wouldn't have had the courage to do that alone! It finally turned out to be something not bad. I was extremely busy last week because of all the rehearsals and practicing after school. And I was very nervous about the show. On top of that, I had to choreographe a dance piece for some younger students. I realised that I've learnt a lot from this school festival. Working with classmates is much more difficult than working with adults. Every student have their opinions, and it finishes always by arguments. But when working with an adult, even you don't like his/her idea you won't say anything, so it's much more efficient. What we've done in just only two weeks is just impressive, letting me know that, really, nothing is impossible! At the end of the perofmrance, Miss Lefevre (Director of POB) gave a speech to the whole school and said that, "There's love that's running around this school, even though there are a lot of difficulties. And that is Art! Art is love that overcomes difficulties!" This may be my last School Festival...... I'm gonna miss it so badly :) The performances in Paris were quite successful. I always feel great when I walk out from the backstage door and when people come over to congratulate me. But before that I had a long period of rehearsals and stress, which has been very difficult. So after the 4 shows in Paris, I finally returned to Hong Kong for holiday!!~ I hadn't been back to Hong Kong since last September. I was extremely excited when I arrived Hong Kong! More than that, it was the first time that my mother was on holiday at the same time! So I really had a great time with my mum. Being away from Hong Kong for a long time, it gave me the curiosity to know more about the city. So I visited Hong Kong as a "tourist"! And then when I went back home in the evening, having a dinner prepared by my lovable grandma.......... oh it's just an indescribable feeling of joy! To know more about my grandma, check out this page on my site. Food......Activities!During the performance period, since I had a lot of rehearsals in Paris which finished very late, I stayed at my last host family's flat, which is in Paris. To know more about my last host family, check out the page The Ellison Family of my site.
When David (their son who stayed in Paris) was not there, I prepare my dinner myself. And at the same time I prepare my meals for the next day as well, because we had so many rehearsals in the Opera that we had no time to go out for lunch! Below is a few photos of what I prepared myself. In April, the school has given 4 performances at the Opera Garnier in Paris. We started preparing for this performance after the Christmas holiday. In 3 months' time, the students learned all the choreographies, the castings were decided, the costumes were adjusted and fixed. It has been a very difficult period because we had a lot of rehearsals everyday: we finish at 7pm. Everyone was very nervous about the performance, especially me! Since we only have one performance per year, we really had to grab the chance to present ourselves to the Parisian audience, the company (The Paris Opera Ballet) and to our own teachers! I was very honored to be chosen to do the Flower Festvial of Bournonville with my partner Anais in the first two performances and the leading couple of Tarentalla in Napoli in the other two performances. Here's a few photos of me on the stage of the Opera Garnier during the performances! Credits to Dorian Browne, my classmate and his mother Marilyn! The official photos of the performance will be posted next week at the Paris Opera Ballet School. |
