She actually waited for me in front of the backstage door of the Palais Garnier and asked me a lot of questions when she saw me. I explained to her that I was still a student at Ecole de Danse (The Paris Opera ballet school) but that I had a short term contract with the company. She wished me good luck for the Concours in July and hoped that I would join the company by then. Then she took a few photos with me and asked me to sign on the program booklet.
When I receive this kind of greeting cards from someone that I don't know, I am always overjoyed. Sometimes I wonder why I love dancing so much. Maybe that's because, for me, the goal of my life is to find happiness, to enjoy every moment of our lives, which means, to be truly alive. When the dancers can offer a moment to the audience in which they could feel happy, impressed, touched, and pulled away from all their problems and troubles, isn't that a meaningful profession? When I receive these kind of greeting cards, I feel like I'm on the right path. Thank you very much Chiharu!
